Coffee Date Dress from Burdastyle.com

Before looking at the sizing difference between Burdastyle.com and standard US sizing, I had already finished this dress. But that's ok, I have found it a good home.

I left off the ruffle in the regular pattern, as I thought it would be more versatile without it. It's simple and I was able to finish it in a few hours, but still very cute. As it turned out to be too small for me I obviously couldn't take a picture with it on.

Shirt Simplicity 2409

I finished this one earlier this week, but didn't have time to write about it, I really like this one but if I were to do it again I would have went out and bought brown thread instead of using the orange I already had. Also I would have used Bias tape where it said to instead of "faking it", but that's ok. It's still pretty :)

Dress Butterick 5317

This dress in my favorite so far, and I completed it in one day :)
The directions were pretty easy to follow, and this was first time working with pleats and pockets.

My first dress!

For this dress I used McCall's patten 5094, and it was view "D". I am very excited, this being my first dress and all. It would have been done a couple weeks ago, but I had to find time to go and get a zipper, which i got last week, but forgot the hooks and eyes... I got those today, and it's done! :)

Laptop bag turned purse

I was trying to make another laptop bag from my last post, however my measurements were slightly off and so ended up being to small for my netbook. Also, this time I didn't use the tutorial, just put everything together while the boys were watching the superbowl- I'm really not a football fan, but I turned my boredom into productivity. I think I like this bag better than my last one, I just need to figure out what kind of a strap I want to put on there. Any ideas? well here's the pictures

Reversible Beach Bag

I used this template

I used a light weight polyester, one in a print and one in black. I really liked this tutorial, it was very easy and only took about 6 hours- it would have been less if a had a table and a cutter like my mom has. As it is, i "roughed it" on the floor with a pair of scissors. the extra work was worth it, and the bag turned out super cute, and the perfect size for everything from going to school to the gym.

Mini Circle Skirt and Canvas Laundry Bag

As I am waiting for the email from my math teacher with today's assignment, I finally have a minute to sit down and write about the two projects I completed while at my mom's house last week. I had seen this tutorial on Burdastyle for a circle skirt- Circle Skirt Tutorial
and was instantly excited about it. After searching through many different fabrics, to find one wide enough (that we already had instead of going out and buying some) to accommodate my wide hips, we settled upon this pretty teal cotton blend. I did however, have to sacrifice about four inches off my desired length. Regardless, I decided to go through with the project.

We also took a large piece of canvas fabric, sewed the ends together, strengthened the inside bottom seam and fed clothesline into the top and was done. It was very simple, easy project that has been very useful.

1) Super Fierce Apron

I made this apron last week. This being my first completed project with a sewing machine, I was very excited about it. I used a simplicity pattern (will post pattern number later). I used a heavy cotton (I think) in leopard print and a standard cotton in a deep red. For a first attempt, I would say this turned out pretty dang spiffy. :)
